Product Focus: The Bond Travel Briefcase vs The Bond Slim Briefcase
When we were nearing our launch for the Bond Slim Briefcase, I had been carrying the Bond Travel Briefcase for almost a year. So when the time came for me to try out the Bond Slim Briefcase sample before we launched, I was excited but terrified at the same time - I had grown used to having all the current items with me all the time.
Naturally, a slimmer briefcase would mean sacrificing certain functions. I used to either carry a memo bottle or my kindle with me due to the additional slot with the Bond Travel Briefcase but the transition to the Bond Slim Briefcase meant I had to consider what was truly necessary to bring to work everyday.
While the slim briefcase only has 4 wire tabs compared to the travel briefcase’s 5, we did create two large tabs on the other side of the briefcase to accommodate longer wires. This was a welcome change for me as I would use one of them for my longer wires and the other for my sunglasses.
One of the other things that was a change for me was the reduced number of slip pockets available in the Bond Slim Briefcase. I had things like a pack of playing cards, my hard disk, a power bank, a small notebook and my mobile phone so the slip pockets did come in handy. Having said so, over time I realised that I didn’t always need to have a hard disk with me. If it was really important to have one though, the new design of the Slim Briefcase featured a wider general slip pocket.
With the reduced amount of items placed in the Bond Slim Briefcase, the major difference was obviously the weight and the look that went with it - my personal opinion is that the Bond Travel Briefcase is ideal for those with a bigger built and a taller frame (or if you simply prefer a bigger bag) and the Bond Slim Briefcase is a more sleek option and definitely more suitable for those who prefer a lighter carry.
From our recent event, a lot of the discussions that I had with people who came by evolved around a selection dilemma between the two and to be honest, it really depends on your use case. I know that goes without saying but I feel that it really boils down to the nature of your work - whether you travel a lot, commute a lot, are desk bound or more client facing. I can offer you one conclusion that will hopefully help your cause:
The Bond Travel Briefcase is a travel briefcase with an everyday option and is therefore more heavy duty.
The Bond Slim Briefcase on the other hand, is an everyday briefcase with a travel option and is therefore sleeker and less heavy duty.
While the weight of the Bond Travel Briefcase with all items loaded is considerable, I eventually went back to the Bond Travel Briefcase because those items are daily necessities for me that I really do require on a daily basis. If you’re still facing a selection dilemma, please feel free to hit us up on our chat bot and we’d be happy to help.
Best,
Ryan
